Motorhead is irreplacable

Motorhead's is not layered and lush. Motorhead's is a big towering slab of speedy, aggressive rock situated somewhere between heavy metal and punk, says an article in Boston Herald. True, nobody can replace the sound of Motorhead and Lemmy.

While the article praises guitarist Phil Campbel, I can't stop myself from saying that I will not forget Brian Robertson in "One Track Mind". This song is one of my favourite songs, and the lead guitar also has a peculiar style to it. What a band!

Stephen Pearcy Interview

Interview with RATT frontman Stephen Pearcy

I like Stiltskin's song, Inside.

Videos of the new rock supergroup, Chickenfoot, has appeared on the Internert. The band line up is guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, ex-Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Check out Down the Drain and Soap on a Rope.

Heard a single from Queensryche's new album, American Soldier. A bit disappointed. The song, 'If I Were King', sounded like alternative stuff.

Checked out Laaz Rockit's 'Brain Wash'. A superb and heavy song from the thrash veterans.

The band Eclipse was the best. Amazing band with a great sound like the 80s power metal greats.

I don't believe that heavy metal music as a genre is dead. It is true that it is not hip either to say that you are a hardcore metal fan.

I see no reason to smile when dudes say I like System of a Down, Limp Bizkitt, and Deftones. Because I do not think rock or rap music with over-distorted rhythm guitars are indeed metal bands.

There still thousands of heavy metal bands out there. The only thing is you have to discover them and become their fans. For me, there are 100s of 80s stuff I have not listened to. I still search for these bands. I also revisit bands I have not liked even after a couple of listenings and try to like them.

Presently, I like BlackTide, Airbourne, Dragongforce (at times I feel what they are trying to play), Stratovarius and so on. So be positive and never mind the FM radios and music channels. Metal is alive and kicking.

After a long time, I visited the Styx pub in Bangalore for a taste of heavy metal. The pub was totally empty and the music was Eagles and Dire Straits. I waited for the DJ to come in, and requested to play fast 80s stuff. And one of the videos he played was the following classic from WASP.

Back in the 90s, Forever Free was one of my favourites
